Four months after giving birth, it hurts to have sex

Everyone knows that after ten months of pregnancy, the baby is born. After giving birth, most women's health will become worse and worse, so you must eat more nutritional supplements during the confinement period to replenish your physical strength. In addition, during the confinement period, in order to protect the female body, the couple should refrain from sexual intercourse, which will be good for women. So why is it painful to have sex four months after a normal birth?

Why does it hurt to have sex three months after giving birth?

1. It may be related to the time it takes to resume sexual life after childbirth. The episiotomy wound usually takes 7 days to heal and the stitches are removed. At this point, the surface tissue of the perineum has healed, but the deep muscle layer and fascia will take 6-8 weeks to repair. If you resume sexual life too early, it may cause the wound to split and bleed. Women with perineal lacerations should be especially careful, as their wounds are more susceptible to infection and it is best to wait until a doctor has checked and confirmed that the wounds have healed before resuming sexual activity.

2. It is related to the wife's general condition. If the wife is weak, malnourished, anemic, or has inflammation in the wound, these will delay the healing time of the wound. Premature sexual intercourse can also easily cause the wound to rupture.

3. This may be related to the wound suture situation. In addition to the perineum epidermis sutured with silk thread, the inner muscle and subcutaneous fat layer are sutured with catgut. Since there are obvious individual differences in the absorption of catgut by human tissue, as well as issues such as the quality of the catgut and whether the perineum is strictly disinfected, these issues will also affect the absorption of catgut by human tissue and delay wound healing.

4. Since the man has to abstain from sex for a long time when his wife is in the late pregnancy and postpartum period, once they resume their sexual life, the movements are often intense, which can easily cause perineal tissue damage, bleeding, and rupture.

Precautions for postpartum intercourse

1. Contraceptive measures are essential. Studies have shown that women who do not breastfeed can resume ovulation about 40 to 50 days after delivery, and those who do not fully breastfeed can resume ovulation about 3 to 8 months after delivery. Even those who fully breastfeed can have a pregnancy rate of more than 2%. However, many women think that they will not get pregnant after giving birth, especially those who are partially or fully breastfeeding. They think that they will not get pregnant while breastfeeding, so they often "boldly" do not use contraception. The result was that her menstruation had not yet resumed, but she was already pregnant.

2. Sexual intercourse should be moderate and the movements should be gentle. The ovarian function of women who breastfeed after childbirth is suppressed, and the follicles in the ovaries are dormant. It is impossible for such dormant, undeveloped follicles to produce estrogen. The vaginal mucosa lacking the effect of estrogen is not only thinner, but also more fragile and lacks elasticity. Therefore, after resuming sexual intercourse after childbirth, the amplitude of the penis lifting and insertion should not be too large, the frequency should not be too fast, and the movements should not be too violent, especially during the first sexual intercourse, you should be more restrained. If the amplitude of lifting and thrusting is large, the penis is inserted too deep, and the frequency is too fast, it may cause vaginal laceration. Among them, crescent-shaped transverse lacerations of the posterior vaginal fornix are particularly common. The main manifestation of vaginal laceration caused by postpartum sexual intercourse is active vaginal bleeding after sexual intercourse, the blood is bright red, and some women may experience pain. Once active bleeding occurs after sexual intercourse, you should seek medical attention promptly to avoid excessive bleeding.
