What are the long-term contraceptive measures?

Sexual life is really not unfamiliar in today's society. With the development of society, people's minds are becoming more and more open. For many married young people today, because society is constantly developing and they want a better future, they will put the issue of having children off until later. At this time, when having sex, they have to consider contraception. So some people want to ask what are the long-term contraceptive measures?

?Long-acting contraceptives can maintain the contraceptive effect for a longer period of time, making it convenient for women to use. The following types are currently in use or on trial in my country.

??1. Long-acting oral contraceptives: Made from artificially synthesized progesterone and long-acting estrogen, it can inhibit ovulation. Taking the pill once can provide contraception for one month.

??2. Long-acting injection of progesterone alone: Progesterone changes the properties of cervical mucus and endometrium, which is not conducive to the passage of sperm through the cervical canal and implantation of fertilized eggs. One injection can provide contraception for 2 months.

??3. Topical application of progesterone:

(1) Put the progesterone in a silicon capsule and then implant the capsule under the skin of the arm or buttocks. It will be released slowly and the contraceptive period can be up to 1 year.

(2) Progesterone and silicone rubber are made into a silicone ring. After the menstruation is over, the silicone ring is inserted into the vagina and put on the cervix to slowly release the progesterone, which is absorbed through the vaginal mucosa. It is placed for 21 days in each menstrual cycle.

(3) An intrauterine device containing progestin can release small amounts of progestin into the uterine cavity over a long period of time.

Healthy contraception methods for modern couples

1. Short-acting oral contraceptives: Short-acting contraceptives are a combination of estrogen and progesterone, such as Marvelon. Only one tablet is needed per day, usually for 21 consecutive days, and one cycle is completed with a 7-day break. The characteristics of short-acting contraceptives are that they are easy to control and have excellent cycle regulation (i.e. very regular menstruation); there is no need to worry about weight changes; and pregnancy can be achieved after stopping the medication.

2. Long-acting contraceptives: Long-acting contraceptives are taken once a month with higher dosage (the estrogen content each month is 4.5-4.8 times the total ethinyl estradiol dose of short-acting drugs in a month), and their contraceptive safety is lower than that of short-acting oral contraceptives.

Because sustained-release drugs have a high blood concentration in the initial stage of taking them, they have serious side effects, are less adaptable to women, and have significant side effects. More than 50% of women experienced side effects such as nausea, dizziness and increased vaginal discharge. Some women will experience increased menstrual flow, prolonged menstrual periods, and may even experience amenorrhea. Since the drug is absorbed and stored in the body's fat tissue and metabolized slowly, it is necessary to stop taking the drug for more than half a year before planning pregnancy.

3. Quick-acting contraceptive pills: also known as visiting contraceptive pills, they can be divided into progestin preparations, estrogen-progestin combination preparations and non-progestin preparations. For the first two types of visiting tablets, regardless of the menstrual cycle time, take one tablet the day before visiting or at noon on the day of visiting, and then take one tablet every night for at least 10-14 days. For the latter type of visiting relatives tablets, take one tablet immediately after the first sexual intercourse, take one tablet the next morning, and take one tablet after each sexual intercourse thereafter. It is named because it is suitable for contraception when couples live apart and visit relatives for a short period of time. It is not restricted by the menstrual cycle, but it is more likely to cause irregular vaginal bleeding.

4. Emergency contraceptive pills: Emergency contraceptive pills are contraceptive pills used to prevent pregnancy within a period of time after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure.

Things to note when taking emergency contraceptive drugs: First, emergency contraceptive drugs can only work for unprotected sexual intercourse this time, and the drug can only be taken once during a menstrual cycle. Secondly, emergency contraception is only a temporary remedy and should never be used repeatedly as a regular contraceptive method. Third, if emergency contraception fails and the woman becomes pregnant, the incidence of neonatal malformations is high and the pregnancy must be terminated. Finally, repeated use of emergency contraceptive pills can easily lead to side effects such as menstrual disorders.

5. Sterilization: including female sterilization and male sterilization. The most common female sterilization procedure is tubal ligation. For men, the main treatment is vasectomy.

??These long-term contraceptive methods are effective. For example, the long-acting oral contraceptive pill and the long-acting injection of progestin alone have an effectiveness rate of over 98%. However, they will have certain adverse reactions, such as irregular vaginal bleeding, gastrointestinal reactions, increased leucorrhea, etc. Relevant researchers are constantly making improvements in drug compatibility, dosage and dosage form.

Choosing a healthy contraceptive method is to be responsible for the health of your significant other, and the above article briefly introduces several long-term contraceptive methods. However, I still hope that everyone will not take medicine or hormones. If these methods are used for a long time, it will cause great harm to women's bodies. Especially since women's bodies have to give birth to the next generation, so you must not take it lightly. Physical health comes first.
