The spermicidal efficacy and speed of nonoxynol suppositories in vivo are significantly higher than those of nonoxynol membranes. The disadvantage is that the contraceptive effect is not as good as oral contraceptives and intrauterine contraceptive devices, and a small number of women may experience allergic reactions or slight irritation in the vagina.
