What are the contraceptive methods?

There are many contraceptive methods in life. For some friends who do not want to have children for the time being, it is very necessary to know some contraceptive methods so that they can effectively prevent pregnancy during sexual life. At the same time, it will also play a certain protective role on the body. In fact, the contraceptive method suitable for each person may be different, so what are the contraceptive methods?

1. Tubal ligation

The inner side of the fallopian tube is connected to the uterus, while the outer end is free and close to the ovary. The egg runs from the fallopian tube to the uterine cavity. Tubal ligation is a surgery to tie the fallopian tubes, blocking the passage of the egg to the uterus, in order to achieve the purpose of permanent sterilization of women. This procedure is suitable for adult women who desire permanent sterilization and have no contraindications to the procedure. Women who only want temporary or reversible contraception are not candidates for this procedure.

2. Intrauterine contraceptive device

It is generally made of anti-corrosion plastic or metal, and some are added with some drugs (such as those that can release female hormones or indomethacin, etc.). There are many shapes of uterine rings, such as round, uterine cavity-shaped, T-shaped, etc. Doctors can choose the appropriate uterine ring according to the condition of each person's uterus. The principle is that after the uterine ring is placed into the uterine cavity, the environment inside the uterine cavity is changed, causing inflammation of the uterus, which is not conducive to embryo implantation, thereby causing early miscarriage to achieve the purpose of contraception. The effectiveness of contraception using an IUD is approximately 94-99%, second only to oral contraceptives, sterilization, implants, condoms and contraceptive injections.

3. Internal contraceptive pills

Contraceptive pills are divided into two categories: internal and external. The main ingredients of internal contraceptives are artificially synthesized estrogen and progesterone, which are divided into three types: long-acting, short-acting and rapid-acting (visiting relatives) according to the duration of their contraceptive effects. Contraceptive pills work by inhibiting ovarian ovulation, thickening cervical mucus, interfering with endometrial development, changing fallopian tube motility, inhibiting sperm capacitation, and inhibiting or killing sperm.

4. External contraceptives

External contraceptives are a type of chemical preparation that is placed deep in the vagina, near the cervix. This causes sperm to lose their ability to move there, preventing them from passing through the uterus to reach the fallopian tubes and combine with the egg. Therefore, external contraceptives are also called spermicides. External contraceptives mainly include external contraceptive suppositories, contraceptive films, contraceptive tablets and ether jelly.

5. Subcutaneous contraceptive implant

Subcutaneous contraceptive implant is a new contraceptive method that is currently being promoted and used throughout the world. This contraceptive method is to put a certain dose of progesterone in a silicon capsule tube, and then bury the tube under the skin, so that it slowly releases a small amount of progesterone, thereby playing a contraceptive role. According to relevant statistics, the pregnancy rate within 2 years is only 0.1%, and the pregnancy rate within 3 years is 0.24%.

6. Condoms

Sexual health and contraception are also key. The problem of pregnancy before marriage is very serious at present, and it is necessary to choose a reasonable contraceptive method. Whether it is drugs or safe periods, they are not appropriate. Condoms are very safe. Condoms are the most commonly used method at present. Their biggest advantage is that they do not interfere with women's physiology at all and can also prevent sexually transmitted diseases.
