Dr. Zou Weizhong from the Department of Philosophy at Sun Yat-sen University believes that no matter from which perspective, hymen repair surgery can only be described as "boring", because hymen repair surgery does not actually repair the physical and mental trauma of women, but only serves to satisfy some men's desire for sexual exclusivity and the so-called pursuit of "chastity". In fact, it is impossible for a person to become chaste by such a minor operation.

Dr. Zou Weizhong believes that the reason this surgery still exists is because there are still too many outdated and decadent concepts in our society. Although the slogan of "women's liberation" has been shouted for decades, women have not actually been truly liberated. At least in the minds of most men, the "hymen complex" representing female chastity has not disappeared. Hymen repair surgery is unfair to women. It is a shackle imposed on women by a male-dominated society.

Dr. Zou said that even if it is the most socially acceptable for a woman to undergo hymen repair after being raped, it is unnecessary because she is just a victim and the fault is not hers, and she does not need to take any reparatory measures. The reason why many people can find various reasons to justify this behavior is simply because there are still problems with everyone's concepts.

"Only when this type of surgery disappears will our society be healthy in this respect," he stressed.
