Can AIDS be completely cured?

So far, AIDS cannot be completely cured, but with the advancement of medical technology, many advanced scientific technologies have been applied to the treatment of AIDS, and some emerging therapies are also being continuously tested. This is particularly exciting news for AIDS patients. I believe that in the near future, AIDS can be completely cured. From the current perspective, as long as it is well treated, AIDS can at least be controlled.

New treatment could completely cure AIDS

According to foreign media reports, a new experimental treatment is suspected to have cured a 44-year-old British HIV carrier. Relevant medical scientists said that no HIV virus was observed in the patient's blood.

It is reported that a team from five British universities is jointly studying this new therapy, with a total of 50 patients as trial subjects. Mark Samuels, director of the National Health Institute for Clinical Research Infrastructure, said in an interview: "We are exploring the possibility of curing AIDS. Although we are still in the early stages of research, we have made good progress." Current treatments for AIDS include antiretroviral therapy, which can target active T cells infected with HIV. But the problem with this treatment is that it does not eliminate the dormant T cells that allow the patient's body to continue to produce HIV.

According to Professor Sarah Fidler, consultant physician at Imperial College London, "This treatment is specifically designed to eliminate all HIV infection in the body, including those infected cells that are dormant."

The new treatment involves injecting a drug called vorinostat, which recognizes and kills all HIV-infected viruses in the body. The name of the patient receiving the new treatment has not been released, but he sent a message saying: "My last blood test was a few weeks ago and no HIV was detected. It would be great if I was really cured." But medical scientists say there is still a long way to go to complete the treatment.
