What contraceptive measures are good?

With the openness of today's society, many young men and women live together before getting married. Today's parents are more open-minded and tend to approve of this approach. As a normal physiological need in life, in order to avoid unexpected situations, contraceptive methods are usually used. There are many kinds of contraceptive measures. Some new contraceptive measures are also welcomed by everyone. So let me explain to you which contraceptive measures are good?

Natural contraception

In the first half of the menstrual cycle, the eggs in the ovaries develop and the ovaries mainly secrete estrogen, which thickens the uterine lining (endometrium), cervix and vagina and enlarges the breasts. This is followed by ovulation, when the follicles in the ovaries release mature eggs, which is manifested by an increase in basal body temperature and changes in cervical mucus. At this time, the follicles mainly secrete progesterone; the ovulation period is the "fertile period". If the egg is not fertilized, progesterone decreases and causes the uterine lining to shed and menstruation to occur. Natural contraception is also known as the safe period contraception method or periodic abstinence; it refers to a means of preventing pregnancy by avoiding sexual intercourse during the "fertile period" of each menstrual cycle.

There are three methods of detection.

Calendar rhythm method: Women must record their menstrual cycles for 6 to 12 consecutive months, and calculate the longest and shortest cycles based on the first day of menstruation. The fertile period during the abstinence phase is then calculated. Calculation method such as:

First fertile day (beginning of fertile period) = shortest cycle minus 20 days

Final fertile day (end of fertile period) = longest cycle minus 10 days;

For example, if a woman's shortest recorded cycle is 26 days and her longest recorded cycle is 31 days, her fertile period is: 26-20=6 and 31-10=21. This woman's fertile period (or unsafe days) is the 6th to 21st day of her menstrual cycle. During this period, sexual intercourse should be abstained from or another method of contraception should be used.

Temperature method: Women should measure their body temperature immediately after waking up in the morning and before getting out of bed, and record it on special temperature paper. Because 1-2 days after ovulation, body temperature begins to rise. Therefore, you should not have sexual intercourse from the first day of menstruation to the third day after your body temperature rises. The period from three days later to 10 days before the next menstruation is considered to be the safe period for sexual intercourse.

Cervical mucus method (Billings method): Women learn to recognize the feelings of dryness, moisture, and dampness at the external opening of the vagina during various stages of the menstrual cycle. During the period of mucus discharge, it is important to distinguish between different types of mucus; small amounts of thick secretions mean an increase in estrogen levels, while large amounts of lubricated mucus occur near ovulation. Before urinating, you can use your fingers to remove mucus from the vaginal opening to check its appearance and stretchiness to confirm. The third day after the appearance of mucus and the mucus peak is the fertile period. This method requires the guidance and learning of professionals before it can be adopted. It usually takes one to three months to learn to identify the mucus type. Usually the calendar rhythm method, body temperature method, and cervical mucus method should be combined to more accurately calculate the fertile time in the menstrual cycle, which will be more effective in contraception.

Different contraceptive measures can bring different effects. For example, although condoms can achieve 99% contraceptive effectiveness, they can also cause some unhealthy factors to your body, cause some inflammation, and be infected by some bacteria. Therefore, it is recommended that everyone choose the appropriate contraceptive method according to their own situation.
