The dangers of incorrect placement of the contraceptive ring

With the continuous advancement of science and technology, there are many daily contraceptive methods. In order to improve the quality of sex life, many people often choose to place contraceptive rings after giving birth. However, since we don’t know much about the placement of contraceptive rings, we always think that the contraceptive rings are placed in the stomach, so we have a fear of this contraceptive method. Let us understand the placement of contraceptive rings.

Side effects of contraceptive ring

Among various contraceptive measures, the IUD is a safe, effective, simple and economical contraceptive tool. Some people may experience discomfort when the contraceptive ring is first inserted, but it will return to normal after a period of time or treatment. However, there are indeed a few people whose symptoms have not improved after treatment, and even affect their work and life. So, what is going on? First, we need to understand the five most common side effects of IUD.

1. Bleeding: Most women will experience a small amount of bleeding 3-4 days after the IUD is inserted.

This is because the contraceptive ring, as a foreign body, stimulates the uterus to contract, causing the contraceptive ring to rub against the endometrium and cause bleeding; some women also cause bleeding by scratching the cervical canal endometrium or endometrium when the ring is worn; most women have very little bleeding and do not need treatment, and the bleeding will heal within a week after the ring is inserted.

2. Increased menstrual flow. In the early stages of IUD placement, especially in the first three months, some women will experience an increase in menstrual flow to varying degrees, or a prolonged menstrual period, or irregular spotting.

This is mainly due to the friction between the contraceptive ring and the endometrium when the endometrium is shed, causing damage to the endometrium. Generally, it will get better naturally after three months.

3. Lower abdominal pain or back pain.

A few women will have this feeling after having the IUD inserted. This is mainly because some people's uterus is more sensitive to the IUD and they regard it as an "invader", causing uterine contractions and slight lower abdominal pain or back pain. After a short period of adaptation, the symptoms will disappear on their own.

4. If the amount of leucorrhea increases, the contraceptive ring with a tail thread will be used.

It is possible that the long-term contact and friction stimulation of the tail thread on the cervical membrane will cause a significant increase in cervical secretions, that is, an increase in leucorrhea. Similarly, an IUD without a tail thread can act as a foreign body, irritating the endometrium and causing increased secretions. After a period of time, when the endometrial tissue has fully adapted, the amount of leucorrhea will naturally decrease. If shortly after the IUD is inserted, not only does the amount of vaginal discharge increase significantly, but it also becomes yellow and purulent, and is accompanied by fever, lower abdominal pain and other discomforts, it is very likely that an infection has occurred and you need to seek medical attention promptly.

5. Infection.

With the improvement of medical conditions and the advancement of technology, when inserting the contraceptive ring, doctors will strictly disinfect the woman's vulva, vagina and endometrium, and infection rarely occurs. However, a small number of people did become infected. Analyzing the causes, most of them are due to failure to pay attention to cleanliness after the IUD is inserted, or having a history of genital tract inflammation, or having sexual intercourse too early or having frequent sexual intercourse after the IUD is inserted, which can cause infection. After antibiotic treatment, it can generally be effectively controlled.

Under what circumstances should you consider removing the IUD? 1. Patients with irregular menstruation for several consecutive months after the placement of the contraceptive ring, or frequent irregular vaginal bleeding, or menstrual volume more than 1 times the previous amount, and the drug treatment is ineffective; patients with severe dysmenorrhea or backache, abdominal pain, and the treatment is ineffective; 2. Patients with uterine cavity infection after the placement of the ring; 3. Patients who find that the contraceptive ring is deformed or misplaced during gynecological examination.

If you have or are going to choose an IUD as a contraceptive method, don't worry if side effects occur. As long as you find out the cause and prescribe the right medicine, things will generally get better. If there is no improvement, it means you are not suitable for wearing an IUD. You can choose other contraceptive methods, which can also achieve the ideal contraceptive effect.

Placement of the IUD

The contraceptive ring is a contraceptive device placed in the uterus, which achieves the purpose of contraception through mechanical stimulation and interference of chemical substances.

Generally, for first-time users, medical staff can place it in the deepest part of the vagina (posterior fornix of the vagina) on the 5th day of menstruation. The front and back walls of the vagina are usually in close contact, so vaginal contraceptive rings are generally not easy to fall out deep in the vagina. However, users should go to the hospital for regular check-ups and learn to check and correct the position of the ring by themselves under the guidance of medical staff.

After understanding the placement of contraceptive rings, many people have a better understanding and knowledge about contraceptive rings, and thus have begun to accept this method of contraceptive rings. At the same time, they also have less fear. Therefore, when choosing a contraceptive method, you can consider placing a contraceptive ring as the first choice. This method causes less harm to the body and will not affect the quality of sexual life.
