Are the feelings of orgasm the same or different for men and women?

It is generally believed that men's orgasm is rapid, violent, and explosive, while women feel waves of excitement throughout the body.

In describing the sensation of orgasm, both men and women wrote about a surge of mental tension, the heart beginning to beat extremely rapidly, "extreme general excitement," a growing trembling rhythm in the body, outbursts, and warmth and tranquility. And both men and women become extremely poetic: "Orgasm feels like heaven in a fiery hell"; "Orgasm is like jumping into a cool swimming pool after hours of sweaty harassment"; "Orgasm is like dumping garbage into a large open green field on a sunny day."
