It is an indisputable fact that excessive intake of alcoholic beverages - wine, beer or spirits - is harmful to human health. But is moderate drinking good or bad for your health? At least so far, there is no correct conclusion. However, various recently published medical research reports show that it is moving in a positive direction. Now, according to a study published in the April issue of the American Medical Journal, people who drink alcohol moderately have a lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes than those who seldom or never drink. This report is the conclusion of continuous research conducted by a group of researchers from Harvard Medical School over the past 12 years. Over the past 12 years, researchers have sent questionnaires to 29,51 male doctors, aged between 40 and 84, each year to investigate their lifestyle choices, including drinking, smoking and exercise, and analyze and record the results year by year. According to the figures, 766 people who participated in the survey suffered from type 2 diabetes, of which 256 never drank alcohol or drank no more than 3 glasses of alcohol per month; 359 drank 1 to 6 glasses of alcohol per week; and 151 drank lightly or moderately, drinking 1 or several glasses a day. From the above numerical analysis, we can know that men who do not drink or drink very little have a 100% higher chance of developing type 2 diabetes than men who drink lightly or moderately. It is well known that 90% of male patients with type 2 diabetes are prone to diseases such as kidney disease, heart disease or stroke. Type 2 diabetes carries the risk of various complications. However, the medical personnel who conducted the above research also issued a warning: drinking is a double-edged sword. It is good for the body, but it also has disadvantages.
