The lymph nodes in the groin may also become painful and swollen. During the first week of the illness, flu-like symptoms may appear, such as fever, headache, or body aches. After the first infection, it usually recurs several times within a year, but the pain is less than the first time, the contagiousness is reduced, and the duration is reduced by half. The disease process is that before the ulcer appears, the skin around the genitals will feel itchy, tingling or burning, which lasts for about two days. Some women experience frequent attacks, while others may have an attack once a month.
