Reasons for female contraceptive ring to fall off

Safe period contraception, condom contraception, and contraceptive ring contraception are all methods of contraception, but if you want to say which contraceptive method is more effective and less troublesome, it must be contraceptive ring contraception. After women wear contraceptive rings, as long as they ensure that the ring does not fall off, they do not need to worry about pregnancy. However, in clinical practice, many women become pregnant because of the falling off of contraceptive rings. So what is the reason for the falling off of female contraceptive rings?

Reasons for the IUD to fall off:

1. The size and type of the ring do not match the uterine cavity. The length and width of each person's uterine cavity are different, so it is difficult to choose a ring that fits the uterus perfectly, and sometimes errors may occur. If the uterine cavity is small and the ring is large, it will cause stronger stimulation, causing the uterus to contract and expel the ring from the body. Conversely, if the uterine cavity is large and the selected ring is small, it is easy for the ring to drop to the cervix in the lower part of the uterine cavity and cause the ring to fall off.

2. The cervix is too loose. This is the main reason for ring shedding. For some women, the cervix does not recover well after giving birth, so when menstruation comes, the ring is discharged from the loose cervix along with the menstrual fluid.

3. Uterine contraction. The ring is a foreign body in the uterus, and the uterus always feels "uncomfortable". It tries to expel the ring from the body by contracting. Some women have strong uterine contractions, and the ring slowly descends, moves, or even is expelled from the body.

4. The ring is not positioned correctly in the uterine cavity. If the ring is not sent to the bottom of the uterine cavity when it is inserted, but is placed in a lower position in the uterine cavity, the ring will easily fall off when the uterus contracts during menstruation.

Studies have shown that stainless steel metal rings can be placed for 15 to 20 years; silicone, plastic or other types of contraceptive rings can be placed for 5 to 7 years. If you have obvious discomfort symptoms after the IUD is placed, you need to remove or replace the IUD, or you can remove the IUD when you plan to become pregnant. The IUD should be removed 3 to 7 days after the menstruation is over. The precautions after removing the IUD are the same as those for inserting it. After menopause, women stop ovulating and will no longer get pregnant, so there is no need for contraception. They can remove the IUD, which is usually removed 6 months to 3 years after menopause. If the IUD is removed too early, you can get pregnant again due to unstable menopause. However, if it is removed too late, the uterus will shrink and it will be difficult to remove the IUD.

Now that you know the reasons why female contraceptive rings fall off, if you are worried about your contraceptive ring falling off, it is recommended that you go to the hospital regularly for B-ultrasound examinations, so that if there is any abnormality with the contraceptive ring, you can discover it in time. In addition, postmenopausal women should remove the contraceptive ring in time to avoid any adverse effects on their bodies.
