Foreign research has found that on the random video chat website "Chat Roulette", one out of every four cameras is aimed at the penis. Among users of adult websites, 36% of men use a picture of a penis as their profile picture, while only 5% of women use pictures of female private parts.

In fact, male exhibitionism has long been considered by clinical psychologists to be a harmless compulsive disorder: men who expose their organs to strangers rarely seek further contact, but instead gain a strong sense of liberation from the exposure itself.

The urges of male exhibitionists appear to be similar to the behavior of our primate ancestors who groomed each other to attract the attention of the opposite sex. Although culture and etiquette define displaying one's penis as a bad habit or even a crime, men have retained the neural circuits of their ancestors and have the instinctive urge of their primate ancestors to display their penises, as well as the instinct to pay attention to the "display behavior" of other men. However, there is a huge difference in "sexual interest" between men and women, and this desire is best expressed between intimate lovers.
