How long after wearing the IUD can I have sex?

Although the two-child policy is now open, many families still choose to wear IUDs for contraception due to financial pressure. Generally speaking, regular hospitals can install IUDs for people. For women, it is important to avoid installing an IUD during the menstrual period. Well, everyone knows that you cannot have sex immediately after the IUD is installed. So how long after wearing the IUD can you have sex?

After the IUD surgery, some women will experience a small amount of vaginal bleeding. In order to prevent postoperative infection and protect your health, it is best not to have sex at this time.

Women can have sexual intercourse half a month after the IUD is inserted, but it should be noted that post-insertion care should be taken seriously to avoid the IUD falling off and causing an unexpected pregnancy.

Although the operation of inserting the ring is simple and safe, it is a surgical operation after all. In order to avoid infection, sexual intercourse is strictly prohibited 3 days before the operation and within two weeks after the operation. Pay attention to vaginal hygiene and do not take a bath in a tub after the ring is inserted to avoid uterine cavity infection. You should rest for 1 to 2 days after the operation and avoid heavy physical labor or strenuous activities within a week, because the cervix will be loose right after the ring is inserted and the ring may fall off easily.

Removal of the IUD

Before IUD removal

Before removing the ring, you should first undergo an X-ray fluoroscopy or B-ultrasound examination. For a ring with a tail thread, you can ask the doctor to dilate the vaginal opening to see if there is any nylon thread outside the uterine opening to confirm that the ring is in the uterine cavity before removing it. The best time to remove the ring is within 3-7 days after the menstruation is over, which can reduce bleeding.

After the ring is removed

1. Get adequate rest within 2 weeks after removing the IUD, avoid strenuous physical activities, and eat nutritious food.

2. Pay attention to the cleanliness of the vulva. Avoid bathing and sexual intercourse within 2 weeks.

3. On the day after the IUD is removed, you may experience mild lower abdominal discomfort, back pain, or a small amount of vaginal bleeding. If the amount of vaginal bleeding after surgery exceeds the amount of menstruation, or the bleeding continues after half a month, or there is severe abdominal pain, etc., please come to the hospital for a follow-up visit immediately.

4. Take appropriate amount of anti-infection and hemostatic drugs after surgery
