Should you use wet wipes to clean after sex?

In fact, this cleaning method is not reliable. Experts point out that it is not advisable to use wet wipes to clean after sex.

There are roughly two types of wet wipes currently sold on the market: one type contains skin care ingredients and has a moisturizing and maintenance effect, but cannot be used for disinfection; the other type is a special disinfecting wet wipe, which has a certain disinfecting and bactericidal effect. The disinfecting or bactericidal ingredients are usually indicated on the packaging, but there is usually no pH value display and it contains certain irritating chemical ingredients.

Usually, the skin and mucous membrane of the female vulva are relatively tender. Long-term use of irritating wet wipes for disinfection can easily cause allergies and may also disrupt the acid-base balance of women themselves. The male external genitalia, especially the scrotum, is not easy to clean. Wiping with wet wipes cannot completely achieve the cleaning effect and can also easily damage the skin.

Experts suggest that after sex, it is best to wash with warm water and dry with a clean towel. Do not be lazy and use wet wipes to clean. This is especially not suitable for people with genital injuries or allergies, so as not to increase the chance of genital and urinary tract infections.
