The definition of sexually transmitted diseases is relatively broad and covers a variety of diseases. Some STDs can directly cause skin diseases, and some STDs have symptoms such as skin diseases, so it is relatively easy to distinguish them. 1. The vast majority of the eight STDs currently regulated by the state have skin-related symptoms, and most people who come to see a doctor have skin symptoms first, and then the doctor diagnoses them as STDs after examining their conditions, so STDs are basically classified as dermatology. For example, there are no special symptoms in the early stages of AIDS. Only in the middle and late stages will there be some skin reactions. If a doctor sees a more serious fungal infection in the dermatology department, he or she will initially think about whether the person may have AIDS. However, since AIDS involves many departments, some female patients may go to the gynecology department for treatment, and some may go to the internal medicine department for treatment due to AIDS-induced physical deterioration. 2. Sexually transmitted diseases is a subject between several disciplines and is relatively small, so it is classified into dermatology. Of course, for some small and medium-sized hospitals, the number of patients with sexually transmitted diseases and skin diseases who come here for treatment is not enough to warrant setting up separate departments. If they are triaged, the hospital costs will increase greatly in terms of staffing, manpower and material resources. Most patients with skin diseases who come to the dermatology and venereology department have two concerns in their minds. One is that they are afraid of being infected with sexually transmitted diseases. Therefore, some patients who come for treatment are reluctant to sit on chairs in the hospital. They believe that they are likely to be infected with sexually transmitted diseases if they come into contact with hospital facilities that have been touched by patients with sexually transmitted diseases. Once infected, the consequences are disastrous. 3. The second reason is the fear of being mistakenly believed by others to have contracted a sexually transmitted disease, because in people’s minds, sexually transmitted diseases are still associated with some immoral behaviors. If someone is misunderstood as having a sexually transmitted disease, the patient's reputation will be damaged. If they meet an acquaintance, they will feel too embarrassed to explain, which will cause unnecessary trouble to the patient. Some hospitals have stated that the dermatology and sexually transmitted disease departments will definitely be separated in the future when medical conditions improve. This is not done from the perspective of infection, but from the psychological perspective of caring for patients. Some hospitals have been gradually implementing this plan. Some hospitals have registered skin diseases and sexually transmitted diseases as two different numbers when making appointments. Some hospitals have divided the two diseases into two different rooms for diagnosis and treatment. This way, the two diseases will not interfere with each other during diagnosis and treatment, which is more fair for both patients with sexually transmitted diseases and skin diseases. |
