Are HIV test strips accurate?

The accuracy of AIDS test strips is relatively high. They mainly detect specific antibodies in serum and serum samples. The operation is relatively simple and usually only takes a quarter of an hour. It is convenient, rapid and accurate. For people with high-risk sexual behaviors, it is necessary to conduct such tests in a timely manner. Of course, it is best to go to the hospital for examination to avoid mistakes.

Our center uses the six-week window period for HIV testing based on the theory proposed by Professor Yunzhen Cao, MD, Director of the Institute of Clinical Virology at the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The explanation is as follows: The window period is 2-6 weeks, calculated from the date of high-risk occurrence. HIV can be detected after 2 weeks, and the calculation is based on 6 weeks later.

For those who have not had high-risk sex for 6 weeks, they can start self-examination after 2 weeks to gradually relieve the pressure. If the result is negative after 6 weeks, the test is completely ruled out (it is recommended to buy multiple pieces and do AIDS tests at different times for confirmation. The accuracy of AIDS tests 2, 4, 5, and 6 weeks after high-risk sex are 53.775%, 84.1%, 99.45%, and 99.994% respectively). There are two types of AIDS test strips: one is a blood test strip and the other is a saliva test strip. The production batch number of regular AIDS test strips can be checked at the State Food and Drug Administration.

Test strip classification

There are two types, one is a blood test strip and the other is a saliva test strip.

Blood test strips can detect whole blood, plasma, and serum samples.

The saliva test strips are used to test oral mucosal exudate samples. There is only one saliva test strip produced by American Aiwei, which is produced by Beijing Manor Biotechnology Co., Ltd. The production batch numbers of regular HIV test strips can be checked by the State Food and Drug Administration.

HIV test strips have gradually gained widespread use and are used in disease control centers, major hospitals, batch testing and other places. The widespread use of test strips has proved its accuracy and feasibility, which has led more high-risk patients to use HIV test strips for testing. AIDS test strips can not only protect the privacy of the test subjects but also allow them to know their infection status earlier.
