Can wearing a condom transmit AIDS?

AIDS is a disease that has no cure yet and many people are afraid of it. There are many ways of transmission of this disease, one of which is sexual intercourse, so people began to pay attention to the question of whether wearing condoms can transmit AIDS. Many people nowadays have AIDS but hide the fact that they are ill. So some people will be infected with AIDS when having sexual intercourse with these people, in order to solve everyone’s doubts. So let's take a look at whether wearing condoms can transmit AIDS.

AIDS is a highly harmful infectious disease caused by infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). HIV is a virus that attacks the human immune system. There are three main confirmed routes of HIV transmission, the core of which are sexual transmission and blood transmission. HIV cannot be transmitted through general contact.

(1) Transmission through sexual contact: including sexual contact between the same sex and the opposite sex. Anal and oral sex carry a greater risk of infection.

(2) Blood transmission: including: ① transfusion of HIV-contaminated blood or blood products; ② intravenous drug addicts sharing HIV-contaminated, unsterilized needles and syringes; ③ sharing other medical equipment or daily necessities (such as sharing toothbrushes and razors with infected people) may also be transmitted through damaged areas, but it is rare. ④ Incomplete or no disinfection of syringes and needles, especially children's preventive injections that are not carried out with one needle and one tube for each child, which is more dangerous; inadequate or no disinfection of dental instruments, delivery instruments, surgical instruments, and needles used for acupuncture treatments; knives and needles used for hairdressing, beauty (such as eyebrow tattooing, ear piercing), tattooing, etc., and pedicure knives in the bathroom are not disinfected; sharing razors, razors, or toothbrushes with others; transfusions of blood or blood products from donors who have not been tested for HIV antibodies, as well as bone marrow transfusions and organ transplants in similar situations; when rescuing a bleeding casualty, the rescuer's own broken skin comes into contact with the casualty's blood.

(3) Mother-to-child transmission: also known as perinatal transmission, which means that a mother infected with HIV transmits HIV to the fetus or baby before, during, or shortly after birth. It can be transmitted through the placenta, through the birth canal during delivery, or through breastfeeding.

There is a possibility of infection. Although people infected with HIV look the same as normal people, their blood, semen, vaginal secretions, and exudates from damaged skin and mucous membranes or inflammatory ulcers contain large amounts of HIV and are highly contagious; breast milk also contains the virus and is contagious. The virus can also be found in saliva, tears, sweat and urine, but the amounts are very small and not very contagious! Although condoms can effectively reduce the chance of infection, they cannot completely avoid it 100%!

In fact, the chance of transmitting AIDS when using a condom is very high. For the sake of everyone's health, it is better not to have too much close contact with people with AIDS. Reduce the chance of infection and live a healthy life. Because this disease cannot be cured under the current medical level. Through the detailed answers in the article, I think everyone has a clear understanding of the transmission routes of AIDS and whether wearing condoms can transmit AIDS. These can help everyone pay attention to what to do in life and what to do when in contact with AIDS patients.
