What is Informed Choice of Contraceptive Methods?

In the past, we always said that there is strength in numbers and encouraged everyone to have more children. However, as people tried to have more children, the population base became larger and larger, and the burden on society became heavier. Relevant policies no longer encouraged people to have more children. Instead, they hoped that people would have fewer children and do their best to implement contraception and family planning. Even very strict measures were taken for a very long time. Informed choice of contraceptive methods is something that people of a certain age are very familiar with, but for some young people this is unknown. Today we will talk about what informed choice of contraceptive methods is.

Informed choice of contraception and family planning refers to the process in which people of childbearing age participate in publicity, education and training, receive information and consultation on contraception and family planning, understand the national population and relevant policies and laws, and master the relevant knowledge and advantages and disadvantages of contraceptive methods, and under the guidance of technicians and doctors, independently choose safe, effective and appropriate contraceptive methods and obtain high-quality contraceptive and technical services. The right to make informed choices about contraceptive methods is a legitimate right that the majority of people of childbearing age should enjoy.

Contraception and birth control means "avoiding pregnancy and controlling births." Contraception and birth control are the key and core of family planning work, because the implementation of family planning must ultimately be implemented on contraception and birth control for couples of childbearing age. The principle of contraception and birth control is to control the three main links of the reproductive process: (1) inhibiting the production of sperm and eggs; (2) preventing the combination of sperm and eggs; and (3) making the intrauterine environment unsuitable for the implantation and growth of the fertilized egg. Ideal contraceptive measures should be safe, effective, simple, economical, have no adverse effects on sexual life, and if selected and used properly, can promote reproductive health. Existing contraceptive measures can be divided into several major categories and dozens of methods, including intrauterine devices, steroidal contraceptives, barrier methods, natural contraception, emergency contraception, and male and female sterilization. Since none of the existing contraceptive measures is 100% effective, and no one is 100% suitable for the needs of all people of childbearing age, in today's world where reproductive health is promoted, informed choice of contraceptive methods (referred to as "informed choice") is very necessary. The so-called "informed choice" means that through publicity, education, training, consultation and guidance, people of childbearing age can understand the principles, indications, contraindications, correct usage, common side effects and their prevention and treatment of commonly used contraceptive measures, and choose a satisfactory and suitable contraceptive method under the careful guidance of medical staff and family planning workers. Informed choice reflects the people's status as masters of family planning work and reflects the purpose of family planning workers to rely on and serve the people.

What is informed choice of contraceptive methods? After reading the introduction above, I believe everyone has a certain understanding of this. Informed choice of contraception and birth control is the government's effort to increase publicity for family planning methods. It provides a comprehensive introduction to how couples raise children and how to better implement contraceptive measures. We hope our introduction will allow everyone to better understand it.
