What are the side effects of taking birth control pills for the first time?

Contraception is an indispensable means for us adults, but sometimes bad contraceptive methods can have a great impact on women. For example, taking birth control pills. Generally, short-acting birth control pills are made with artificially synthesized estrogen and progesterone, but for some women, these two hormones will endanger their health to a certain extent and produce some adverse reactions.

1. Early pregnancy reaction

Pregnancy-like reactions are common, accounting for about 50% of the number of people taking the medicine. Symptoms are usually severe at first, then become mild and gradually disappear, which may be related to the body's gradual adaptation. Symptoms include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, and even fatigue, dizziness and other reactions similar to those in early pregnancy. It usually occurs within 1-2 weeks of taking the medicine. This reaction is related to the estrogen in the contraceptive pill stimulating the gastric mucosa.

2. Vaginal Bleeding

Many women experience persistent spotting or breakthrough bleeding similar to menstrual volume while taking the medication. This is related to missed doses, late doses of birth control pills, or insufficient effectiveness of birth control pills. If vaginal bleeding occurs in the first half of the menstrual cycle, it often indicates that the estrogen dose is too low; if it occurs in the second half of the cycle, it indicates that the progesterone dose is insufficient to maintain the endometrium.

3. Oligomenorrhea or amenorrhea

Many female friends have reported that their menstrual flow has decreased or even amenorrhea has occurred after taking birth control pills. What is going on? It turns out that birth control pills can cause incomplete development of the endometrium and insufficient glandular secretion. As a result, the endometrium cannot grow normally and becomes thinner, resulting in a decrease in menstrual flow. Some women experience amenorrhea due to excessive inhibitory effects of contraceptives, which results in no withdrawal bleeding after stopping the medication.

The above are all side effects caused by taking contraceptives, so for female friends, they must pay attention to some matters when taking medicine. In daily contraceptive activities, do not take contraceptives for a long time. It is recommended that you use condoms for contraception, so that the threat to the body will be very small.
