What tests should be done for genital warts?

In recent years, with the gradual increase in the number of patients with genital warts, more and more people have begun to pay attention to genital warts. However, if you are unfortunately diagnosed with genital warts, in order to prevent genital warts from continuing to harm your body, you must go to the hospital as soon as possible to find out the cause and cooperate with the doctor to actively receive treatment. If not treated in time, it may affect the health of your family and children. Therefore, once genital warts are diagnosed, timely treatment is the key. But what tests are needed to diagnose genital warts?

What tests can be done to diagnose genital warts?

1. Genetic diagnosis So far, HPV has been difficult to detect using traditional virus culture and serological techniques. The main experimental diagnostic technology is nucleic acid hybridization. In recent years, the developed PCR method has the advantages of specificity, sensitivity, simplicity and rapidity, opening up a new path for HPV detection.

2. Pathological examination. Pathological examination is a highly accurate method in the examination of genital warts. It starts with the symptoms of genital warts and determines whether it is genital warts through examination. The pathological examination mainly shows parakeratosis, highly hypertrophic papilloma-like hyperplasia of the stratum spinosum, and thickening and prolongation of the epidermal processes, which may resemble pseudoepitheliomas.

3. Acetic acid white test. The principle of this test for genital warts is the result of protein and acid coagulation and whitening. The keratin produced by HPV-infected cells is different from that produced by normal uninfected epithelial cells. Only the former can be decolorized by acetic acid. The US CDC points out that the acetic acid whitening test is not a specific test, and false positives are more common.

4. Histochemical examination. A small amount of lesion tissue is taken to make a smear, which is then stained with specific anti-human papillomavirus antibodies. If there is viral antigen-antibody binding in the lesion, the nucleus can be stained red by the peroxidase anti-peroxidase method. This test for genital warts has strong specificity and is relatively quick, which is helpful for diagnosis.

What are the symptoms of genital warts

First: The wart-like growths at the male urethral opening may be smooth or papilloma-like in surface, with a reddish color and a moist surface. During the examination, the mucosa of the urethral opening must be fully exposed so that the warts can be seen. Sometimes the virus can move retrogradely along the urethra and cause infection of the urethral epithelium, in which case a urethroscopy is required.

Second: If you have condyloma acuminatum at the urethral opening, it will be more difficult to treat, as this area is prone to recurrence after treatment. Especially if women have genital warts at the cervix, severe cases may turn into cancer. Therefore, if lesions occur in these parts, you should go to the hospital for treatment in time. Do not ignore the condition and delay treatment because you are embarrassed or think it is not that serious.

Third: Cervical epithelial infection is often a subclinical infection, and the damage is more clearly visible through colposcopy. The above are the symptoms of genital warts introduced to patients. If you want to completely cure genital warts, it is recommended that you go to a regular hospital for consultation and treatment in time. Commonly used methods for treating genital warts include drug therapy, laser therapy and other treatment methods.

Precautions

To completely get rid of the trouble of genital warts, the most important thing is the treatment method. Be sure to choose scientific and effective new treatments. Only scientific and effective treatments can completely cure genital warts. I hope you can go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time! I wish you a speedy recovery!
