What are the contraceptive methods for girls?

Many girls begin to fall in love during puberty and start to have feelings for the opposite sex, so many of them start dating. Love is actually very beautiful, and it is a memory of youth. But after all, girls' minds are immature and lack proper guidance, so many girls make mistakes and eat the forbidden fruit, which is harmful to their physical and mental health. Therefore, it is necessary to master some contraceptive measures.

According to a survey, only 47.7% of teenage mothers have heard of emergency contraceptive pills; less than 21% have ever used this drug; once sexual intercourse occurs, the contraceptive failure rate is as high as 81.6%. A recent survey conducted by the Shanghai Family Planning Guidance and Technology Institute on 591 pregnant teenage girls with an average age of only 17 showed that even though the sales of emergency contraceptive drugs have increased year by year, as many as 80% of teenage girls still do not know how to remedy the situation afterwards. Emergency contraception is a contraceptive measure used in emergency situations. The so-called emergency situation refers to sexual intercourse without any protective measures. There are generally two methods of emergency contraception: emergency contraceptive pills and intrauterine contraceptive device placement. It should be noted that emergency contraceptive pills cannot replace conventional contraceptive measures and therefore cannot be used frequently. The following are some of the precautions for emergency contraception:

1. Emergency contraception with medicine can only work for unprotected sexual intercourse during this cycle. Other reliable contraceptive measures should still be taken during sexual intercourse after taking the medicine in this cycle. If you are not careful, you may get pregnant during the month you take the medicine.

2. The effectiveness of emergency contraception is significantly lower than that of conventional contraceptive methods, and because of the high dosage (the dosage of one emergency contraceptive is generally equivalent to 8 days of conventional short-acting oral contraceptives), the side effects are also significantly higher than those of conventional contraceptives. For example, it may cause certain changes in the menstrual cycle, which may be advanced or delayed.

3. Emergency contraception is only an emergency method, not a regular contraceptive measure. Women should choose the right contraceptive method for themselves and should not rely on frequent use of emergency contraceptive pills.

4. Emergency contraception should be carried out under the guidance of a doctor. Emergency contraceptive pills should be taken within 72 hours after sexual intercourse. The failure rate is often higher if taken beyond 72 hours.

5. If emergency contraception fails and pregnancy occurs, the incidence of neonatal malformations is high and the pregnancy must be terminated.

6. Emergency contraceptive pills can only be used once during a menstrual cycle; the second time will be ineffective.

7. Excessive and frequent use of emergency contraceptive pills may cause harm to the body. Taking emergency contraceptive pills repeatedly will cause menstrual disorders, bleeding or prolonged spotting, causing inconvenience to women's life and work.

In addition to being unaware of the existence of emergency contraceptive pills, a considerable number of underage girls also abuse this drug. "It is very necessary to popularize the knowledge of emergency contraceptive pills for underage girls, because ignorance and abuse will cause great harm to their body and mind.

By understanding some contraceptive measures, we can reduce some harm to young girls, but this is by no means enough. If you want to stay away from harm, you should not do anything extraordinary. You should learn to distinguish right from wrong, resist temptation, and not cause lifelong harm because of a momentary impulse. Parents should also give correct guidance to their children during adolescence so that their children can stay away from harm and grow up healthily.
